Monovision, 2017, Digital video, 1'54" (Loop)

Filmed through a hand-held copper pipe at Mono Lake, CA, this video presents two ways of viewing the landscape. The steady tracking of the horizon may hint at the scanning telescope of the explorer or surveyor, while the chaotic movement may be more akin to how our eyes frantically bounce around while walking through a space to make sense of it. Shifting between distance and intimacy, this disorientating reflection may offer the viewer a more phenomenological experience of the landscape.
